Positive Impacts

  • More employment opportunities for local people. 
  • Having tourists who visit a particular community gives the locals a sense of pride for their place.
  • Conservation of cultural heritage
  • More investments will come in, which means their is in need to build new infrastructures.
  • Increase of environmental awareness of the locals
  • Biological Conservation
  • Improvement of environmental quality and enhancement of the environment.
  • It is a way that people from different places can understand one's cultures and traditions.    



Negative Impacts
  • The government hurries to attract foreign tourists without the existence of a  proper tourism infrastructure.
  • Misunderstanding and conflicts between residents and visitors.
  • Negligence of environmental considerations
  •  Local goods can become expensive so that the tourists will pay more.
  • Tourists might invade the traditions of the Subanen tribe into the modern world, in which it may threaten their lifestyle and cultural products.
  • Locals might produced counterfeit products of the Subanen tribe that will detriment it's originality just to gain income. 
  • Level of pollution will increase due to the large number of tourists.
  • Racial and Cultural Discrimination     
  • Overcrowded destination may occur if tourism in the City will continue to grow.
  • Focusing too much to the foreign tourists, the government are forgetting their obligations to the locals.
  • As the number of tourists increase, there is a possibility that the rate of crime rates also increases.
  • Some locals may eventually imitate the ways of tourists, which may be inappropriate in their own communities.
  • Tourists would tend to be regarded by the locals as more superior than them.
  • Some tourism projects might create social impacts that will result in conflicts between the community and business operators.
  • Vandalism of historical sites of the city.
  • Waste disposal problems
  • In wanting to bring in tourists to attractions, tourists facilities are built beside or within a natural area.


Impacts of Tourism to the DOT of Ozamiz; Sociocultural Identity

          Tourism is a fast growing industry in the Philippines which provides a different advantages not only to the people but also, to the country as well. Ozamiz City has a rich culture that can be offered to a lot of tourists which  gives them the identity to be different in any other cities, the attractions portray a great part of its history and people gains a sense of pride out from it and it is the reason why their is in need to showcase it to the public.
