PRESERVE
We always heard the word “preservation” and yet, we people don’t really recognize what its true essence is and how to apply this kind of practice. Preservation is a way of maintaining the natural features of an environment both land-based and water-based. Our environment is not the only thing that we can preserve, it could be anything that we considered valuable, the things that we want people to see in the next generation such as cultures and traditions. By doing such practice, it doesn’t only help the environment that they are in but also, the people residing in the area in which they are primarily the ones who will be benefiting from it. It became their pride in a way that they will be able to showcase the beauty not only of the environment but their city as well. We are forgetting that we supposed to take good care of our environment not destroy it, cultures should be treasured because it’s what make us different from any another country and it serves as our trademark that whenever they will experience it they will easily recognized or remembered that it is us. Ozamiz is just a simple yet developing city of Misamis Occidental, it is the considered the business center of the province. In terms of tourism the city has something to offer to tourists such as the Cotta fort, which was built during the Spanish colonization and it became the camp of the Spanish soldiers. Some parts of the walls of the said fort were destroy because of the massive earthquake that the city experienced several years ago but during the term of the former Mayor Aldong Parojinog, the walls were restored since it is part of the history and it is serve as one of main attractions of the city. Since the day it was officially opened to the public until now it is visited by a lot of tourists and also, the people who lived within the province.
PROTECT
We protect things simply because we value them so much that we didn’t want something bad might happen into it. In the City of Ozamiz, we are protecting not only the people but also, the resources that we have, which were given by our heavenly Father. This resources what makes Ozamiz is, it is where people gets their needs including their source of living. Making small steps to protect our environment and also, the culture can be a good start as long as we did everything that we could and we did it because we want it, not because someone obliged us to do it. Everything starts from small until it became bigger, so there’s no need for us to rush things in order for us not to commit wrong decisions that may harm not only the things we valued the most but also, ourselves as well. Wrong decisions can be prevented if there is a keen planning in what action/s should be done just like, in the tourism if you made a decision without even thinking it may affect the sectors under it. Everything is just a matter of choices; it is with us if we made not good but smart choice. That is why, the government is striving hard to make as much as good decision that they can have because they were elected as a representative of the people in order to protect their rights, help them to uplift their way of living, govern them well and give assistance to the people who are in need. As for the residence, they should also take part in implementing the laws by following it in order for the city to increase the rate of peace and order situation for the tourists will continue visiting.
SUSTAIN
Sustainability is being able to maintain the progress that we undergone or we made until the very end while minimizing its negative effects, if there is. Sustaining is easy to utter but difficult to stand, it is the hardest part of preservation because not everyone has the capability to keep up such development. Sustenance will surely cost us not only money but also, a lot time to devote it to and long patience which will be measured along the way. However, once we already see the fruit of our hard work everything that we sacrificed was all worth it, most especially when someone will praise us for a job well done which will motivate us to carry on and established other improvements as much as we can. Just like here in Ozamiz, we are sustaining our healthy environment even if it is slowly progressing and being able to prolong this kind of practice until it became a fully developed city. People living in the city work hand and hand in order for grow in no time, this will help not only the city but their lives as well.
ENJOY
Enjoyment is what we aspire to experience in visiting a particular destination that will surely make our stay worthwhile and left behind the things that bothers our mind. It is also, what triggers the tourists to pay a visit and experience the activities for themselves. And this goes to show that when a tourist tends to visit a certain attraction or destination they always sought for pleasures. Making them incurred a lot of spending. In fact, through those spending, the local economy and the community become benefited. High employment and quality standard of living are just few of the benefits that can be provided to the residents of the community.
